Music for viola by UW composers will be featured at a concert at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 25 in Meany Theater.
Violist Helen Callus will be performing on all the pieces, and sometimes other musicians will join her. The program includes Diane Thome鈥檚 Like a Seated Swan for viola and computer-realized sound; Joel-Francois Durand鈥檚 Cinq Duos, with violinist Kyung Sun Chee; and Ken Benshoof鈥檚 Rondo, with Carole Terry on harpsichord.
鈥淚n addition to paying tribute to the UW composition faculty,鈥� Callus said, 鈥淚 chose this repertoire so I could get to know the music of my colleagues and take advantage of the luxury of being able to talk to and work directly with the composers.鈥�
Callus will also play Sonata, a piece by English composer Rebecca Clarke, with Jeffrey Gilliam on the piano.
