Alex Chin, one of the GEAR UP (Gaining Early Awareness & Readiness for Undergraduate Programs) students who came to the School of Dentistry鈥檚 first half-day Dental Camp session in late July, worked with Dr. Shawneen Gonzalez on one of the 鈥渟imulators鈥� in the main dentistry skills teaching laboratory. The camp encouraged students to learn more about dental careers and steps they could take to prepare. Washington Dental Service Foundation, which is a camp sponsor, established an Educational Futures Task Force that identified a need to diversify dental professionals in the state.
