On May 29, 2026, the federal Office of Management and Budget (OMB)\u202fpublished a proposed rule<\/a> in the Federal Register that would substantially revise\u202f2 C.F.R. Part 200, commonly referred to as the \u201cUniform Guidance\u201d, which applies to federal grants, cooperative agreements and other types of federal assistance funding.<\/p>\n If finalized, the proposed rule would\u202fsignificantly\u202fimpact\u202ffederal awards,\u202fincluding codifying Executive Orders.\u202f It would change Uniform Guidance to Uniform Regulations, having the practical impact of adoption across all agencies, rather than each agency setting forth in its own agency\u202fregulations.\u202f\u202fThese areas will be highly impacted:<\/p>\n Because these changes have significant implications for federally funded research, the university will be submitting comments in response to the proposal. As noted in the Provost\u2019s newsletter<\/a>, we are seeking your input on the University\u2019s overall response. Please use the University\u2019s \u201cUniform Guidance \u2013 Proposed Changes\u201d form link to provide your comments to University leadership to support the University\u2019s official response to OMB. You will need a UW NetID to access the form. Please respond by June 28th.<\/strong><\/p>\n \t\t\u201cUniform Guidance \u2013 Proposed Changes\u201d form<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a><\/p>\n As a member of the public, you may also comment directly to OMB; however, OMB will consider only one comment per institution.
