These events will give researchers an opportunity to ideate, discuss, learn, and network with other researchers to build community and inform their individual work.<\/p>\n<h3>Researcher Experiences &amp; Needs in Cases of Targeted Harassment and Intimidation &#8211; Listening Session<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Facilitated By Emma Spiro (Associate Professor in the iSchool and Co-founder and Faculty Director of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cip.uw.edu\/\">UW Center for an Informed Public<\/a>)<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Friday, April 25, 2025, 9:00 \u2013 10:30 am<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Location: Parrington Hall, Room 320<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Academic researchers are increasingly faced with attacks on their character, credibility, and work. This concerning trend is complex and requires action on multiple fronts, but its overall impact is felt by individuals, groups, institutions, and society alike. To better understand and support the scope of concerns for UW researchers in this situation, the Offices of Research and Academic Personnel &amp; Faculty are hosting a listening session to provide an opportunity for researchers to share experiences, support needs, and ideas for response in cases of targeted harassment and intimidation. The program will feature presentations and hands-on demonstrations led by Cambridge, NVIDIA, and members of the UW-IT Research Computing team, focusing on the expanding role of AI and data science in academic research and education. The panelists will discuss the current status of these challenges, approaches for recovering and restoring data, and possible strategies for resilience.
