Sound Transit recently published聽this update on construction activities focused on excavation of the light rail station:聽.

Hundreds of people across the City of Seattle will come together on Feb 14th to celebrate Neighbor Appreciation Day. The official day was started in 1995, when Phinney Ridge activist Judith Wood suggested that the City designate “a special day to celebrate the goodness in those around us and to reach out and strengthen our bonds to each other.”

Mayor Norm Rice proclaimed the Saturday before Valentine’s Day as Neighbor Appreciation Day, and it has continued to grow over the years. You can check out events that will be happening in your neighborhood and all around Seattle, or plan your own event using online tools and templates .

UW alum and Seahawks wide receiver Jermaine Kearse came back to campus last summer to share his memories of Husky football, being a UW student and what it meant to him to earn his degree in sociology.

The 乱伦社区 and Seattle Children鈥檚 Hospital are partnering with Security Properties to develop , a project to聽create a new pool of high-quality housing in the U District. The new community will offer聽priority access for UW and Children鈥檚 employees, and聽will include larger units and amenities designed聽for those with families.

When the University acquired several surface parking lots as part of the Safeco Tower purchase, it created聽an opportunity for the two institutions to partner on the聽new housing project. Security Properties/Madrona Ridge was chosen to build and operate it.

The UW and Seattle Children’s聽have a shared interest in creating high-quality and affordable housing for their employees, and in聽contributing to a vital urban neighborhood.聽The Bridges@11th聽community will include 184 total units with a mix of studios, one bedrooms, two bedrooms and three bedrooms. The project also involves a collaboration with the City of Seattle through the Multifamily Property Tax Exemption Program,聽which allows聽20% of the apartment homes to be set aside for those who qualify under the MFTE guidelines.
