]]> 2026 Annual Report on the ÂÒÂ×ÉçÇø Master Plan, Seattle Campus /community/2026-annual-report-on-the-university-of-washington-master-plan-seattle-campus/ Wed, 06 May 2026 17:56:50 +0000 /community/?p=8665 Linked below is the seventh annual report on physical development under the ÂÒÂ×ÉçÇø’s Seattle Campus Master Plan as approved by the Seattle City Council in February 2019. The report is structured to respond to reporting requirements found in the City University Agreement (Ordinance 121193); the ordinance approving the Campus Master Plan (Ordinance 125733); and the Conditions of Approval attached to that ordinance. This report covers January through December 2025.

During the reporting period, the University continued progress on capital development and sustainability commitments outlined in the Campus Master Plan (CMP). Most students have returned to in-person classes, while many employees continue to telecommute several days per week. The University recorded a 15.5% single-occupancy vehicle (SOV) rate, an improvement over the past several years. We expect this number to decline further once the East Link Connection is reflected in the data, as the delayed opening meant they were not included in the 2025 figures.
The University has completed approximately 187K square feet toward the 6M allowed total. Five projects were under construction in 2025:
  • ICA Basketball Training Center (E59) – 8,758 net new sq. ft. (now open)
  • Interdisciplinary Engineering Building (C11) – 54,875 net new sq. ft. (now open)
  • New Haggett Hall (C6) – 29,237 net new sq. ft.
  • Two residential projects, Blakeley Village (E81/E82) 370,339 net new sq. ft. and Laurel Village (E83/E84) 222,522 net new sq. ft., began construction in late 2025.

The UDistrict Partnership successfully had the first Cherry Blossom Night Lighting event on campus. As the sun lowered, the trees lit up purple and crowds gathered to see the cherry trees in a new light.

Announced last Friday, the UW Botanical Gardens and the Arboretum Foundation will unite under a single nonprofit organization, Seattle Botanic Gardens. This agreement was approved by the Arboretum Foundation Board and UW Board of Regents to manage and preserve the UW’s collection.

On October 21, President Jones toured the Ave with U District Partnership (UDP) staff to learn more about their work and meet local business owners. UDP is a non-profit that provides daily cleaning, graffiti removal, social services, advocacy and special events for the U District. President Jones made stops at the University Bookstore, Shiga’s Imports, Sweet Alchemy and Boba Up.
